Not a lot of details on this great looking
Dukes of Hazzard themed and Gasser inspired 1963 Ford Econoline.
We will hopefully pry out some info when it appears at Vanfest.
We first saw the van there back in 2003. The next time we saw
it was in the Toronto Star with a very popular television chopper
guy. Jesse James likes Econos, one of his best buddies Chopper
Dave has one so he had been influenced, look for a 1/24 scale
Muscle Machines Econo coming soon, we'll very likely see a Gasser
like version ...
Since then it has gone under a very nice restoration by Concepts on Wheels near Toronto Canada. Enjoy
the story below on Monsterbash and the pictures taken at Vanfest,
the drag strip and at Performance World (Concepts on Wheels was
the prime sponsor). Thanks
to Terry from Concepts for the use of the pictures. |
"Nearly 400 cars jammed the drive-in,
about 100 of which made up the "show" of muscle cars,
outrageous customs, hot rods and custom bikes. There was even
a white-water boat powered by a Sea King helicopter engine.
The crowd of 2,700 people was a real mix - lots of tattooed bikers
alongside parents with their kids in tow. Which says a lot for
the universal appeal of Monster Garage.
He seemed most comfortable talking shop with the other car builders.
As dusk approached, James made his choice. It was between a custom
'62 Ford Econoline and a wild Vespa chopper.
In the end, the van got the nod, and Stony Smith from Scarborough
took home the tools".
