Blues Traveler is a 1993
Dodge B250 owned by Danny and Jennifer Lonie of Medford
We have been vannin since 1986
We bought the van brand new in
December of 1992. It was a fully loaded cargo van, pretty much
all the options but no interior.
The van is a home built custom van, built by me and with some
help from friends and family. It was built to be a functional
family, camping and van-run van. It wasn't really built with
"showing" in mind but it has turned into a bit of a
show van.
A few of the awards that we have
won with the van that I am very proud of is , 1st place New Dodge
at the 27th Nationl Truckin at Butler Pa. A Best Interior at
Spring Thaw 17 at West Milton PA. 3rd place Overall Van at Carisle
All Truck Nationals in 1998 and most recently Best Of Show at
Spring Thaw23 at west Milton Pa in 2004.
The van isn't daily driven but
has accumulated 97,000 miles of mostly van runs, camping trips
and other weekend use. We go to as many van runs and cruise nights
as possible and maybe even a yearly car show.
Exterior modifications include
mud flares, sploiler, norcal wing, visor with lights, chrome
square tube grill, limo tinted glass, glass eching by JT Spy,
conversion projector style headlamps, 4 inch snowflake LED tailamps,
275-60r15 Dunlops on 15x10s in the rear and 245-60r15 on 15x8s
in the front, all lights are pin striped, custom headlight covers,
custom radio antenna, dual K40 CB antennas, 3rd brake light,
chrome wiper cowl, gas door and differential cover.
The exterior paint is factory
Navy Blue Metalic. There is a blue/pink marbilizer graphic painted
on the sides of the van, done by The Body Shoppe of Smithtown.
Pinstriping and lettering of various colors were done
by Nelson Medina.
The interior walls are finished
in a blue velour, blue short shag carpet finishes the floor and
a combination of velour oak paneling and formica make up the
headliner. A custom oak cabnet houses a sink with a 12volt
pump, 2 cabnets, an ice box and a place to mount a 9inch color
tv/vcr, so the kids can be entertained on long trips. That same
tv can also be placed over the bed area after we arrive to our
destiation. There is 12volt and 110 volt lighting in side the
van. The 110 hookup also powers a microwave oven which is under
the bed, and 2 battery chargers, one for the main battery under
the hood, and 1 for the 2nd battery, which operates all the lights
and accesories. The batteries charge while driving thru the 110amp
alternator and isolator.
The rear bench lifts up to access
storage, and the backrest folds down so you can get to the bed.
4 inches of foam make for a very comfortable bed.
The overhead console houses a
cb radio, transmission temp gauge, vacume gauge, eng temp gauge,
volts for the 2nd battery, tachometer, and a radar and laser
detector. There are 15 toggle switches in the console all for
interior and exterior lights. There are also 5 other switches
mounted in the lower dash for lights. The tunes are simple but
sound good. They come from a factory radio which had a 5 band
EQ, I added a 120 watt Blaupunk amp, 6x9 Kenwood 3 ways in the
rear and 6 inch Blaupunk seperates in the front with 1.5 inch
tweeters. There is also a 10inch 150 watt Bazooka tube and a
remote CD player.
Drivetrain is a 5.2Lt Magnum
V8, overdrive transmission with a 10,000lb cooler and 3.9 gears
in the rear end. I've added a K&N airfilter, Flowmaster muffler
and Splitfire sparkplugs.
Thanks for checking out our van.
